Chamomile T-2022

Hi

I have brought you yet another blog on one of my favourites – Chamomile tea.

Chamomile is a flowering plant in the Asteraceae plant family, a.k.a, the daisy family. It has white petals with a bright yellow center.

There are actually several different types of chamomile, depending on where it was grown. The most popular varieties are Roman (also called English) and German chamomile. Although much less common, there are also Egyptian and Moroccan chamomiles.

As the talks of another variant seem to be gaining the buzz all over again, it is time to remember this past year and remind ourselves of how negative and horrific life had (and can) become. There were hardly any families who were untouched or unaffected by this ‘wave’. Everyone faced the wrath of COVID, and for the first time, either a personal loss or the loss of an acquaintance or even a celebrity shook us to the core on a day to day basis. Television and newspapers constantly featured news of the rising number of deaths, shortage of oxygen, injection or hospital beds!

No matter how you experienced the pandemic, whether, from a personal point of view or a psychological point of view, the fact is that at some level, we have all changed permanently by this experience, whether we are aware of it or not. So, looking at the larger schemes of things, there are a few lessons that this pandemic has taught us and out of all those, one with which we all may agree is:

While these manufactured drugs have certainly become paramount in our lives, it can be comforting to know that the power of nature is on our side, and these herbal choices are available to complement our health practices.

CHAMOMILE is one such herbal flower.

chamomile has been used for its medicinal properties for centuries!

There is a whole host of uses for chamomile tea besides it being a sleepy time tea. So grab some chamomile to have on hand at your next meal. It is a fantastic beverage for all sorts of preventative health needs!

This powerhouse flower contains anti-bacterial properties too. So chamomile can also help us fight off the common cold!

Chamomile is already used in traditional medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties. It’s used as a treatment for mild skin irritations and to soothe eye inflammations.

It can help with gastrointestinal disorders too. Chamomile has been shown to inhibit the bacteria that causes stomach ulcers and smooth muscle spasms (yes, it’s one of the best teas to drink to ease menstrual cramps!

There have been several studies examining the relationship between chamomile and diabetes. Those anti-inflammatory properties protect your pancreas (which is at risk when blood sugar levels get too high).

It’s also linked to lowering blood sugar levels.

Rinsing or gargling with chamomile water keep the pain of swollen gum s at bay. Simply pour warm water into a cup with a chamomile tea bag. After brushing your teeth, swish the chamomile mix in your mouth, rinse your mouth and spit it out.

So, this 2022, lets listen to our mother earth !!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 🙂
